Create a beautiful garden walkway without hurting your back with these plastic stepping stones that look even better than heavy stone pavers!

Maintaining my plant addiction means that my flower beds have to expand on a regular basis. For that reason, I LOVE the ease of moving these plastic stepping stones that look authentic, are super durable, and don’t crack!

After using them through two growing seasons, I love their durability and have them all over my backyard to create English-style garden paths among my rose beds.

The Benefits of Plastic Garden Stepping Stones

Two years ago, I reluctantly got a dozen plastic stepping stones (current price here). I was hesitant because I was unsure of how durable they would be in our hot Texas sun.

But I was so tired and sore from hauling bags of soil to make my raised garden beds that I wasn’t enthusiastic about installing heavy concrete pavers.

I figured I could try them out and see how they worked before I got them for all of my garden walkways.

When they came in the mail, I was pleasantly surprised at the realistic faux stone surface. And of course, they are incredibly light, which makes installing and moving them SO easy.

I’m so thankful I got these instead of large garden stones or patio blocks because I enlarged my rose beds 3 different times.

I can’t even imagine the back problems I would have had trying to move concrete stepping stones, one block at a time.

While they are a little more expensive than regular pavers, I feel like I still saved money because of the chiropractor appointments I would have needed moving concrete stepping stones.

These plastic garden stepping stones create hard surfaces to step on in my outdoor walkways that are simple to install and don’t crack like other hard surfaces.

Not only have they held up to our Texas heat but they are also really durable and stay where I put them with my installation hack. With having two large dogs, the stones keep my garden paths from becoming mud puddles after it rains.

Supplies Needed FOR Installing PLASTIC STEPPING STONES

Plastic Pavers in Beige or Slate Gray Get enough for your path so there is 4-6″ between each.

Metal Yard Staples – You’ll need 4 for each paver.

I don’t install these the way that is recommended, but I promise that using the yard staples makes installation so much easier and they stay in place better!

How To INSTALL PLASTIC STEPPING STONES

This is a different method than described in the instructions, but this method is so much easier and the pavers stay where you put them!

Step 1: Lay Out Your Plastic Garden Stepping Stones

I laid out my plastic pavers so there was 6 inches between each. I’m 5’6″ and that feels like a very natural walking gate for me.

You’ll notice some pointed spikes under the plastic mold of the pavers. Leave those there. We won’t be using those at all as these are incredibly hard to install using those. That’s probably why Amazon says this is a frequently returned item.

Step 2: Secure The Plastic Stepping Stones with The Yard Staples

Once you have your plastic pavers where you want them, it’s time to secure them with yard staples.

I like to stand on each paver one at a time as I kneel and hammer a yard staple at each corner.

You’ll see the top of the yard staples at each corner, but I promise that in a matter of days your grass will grow around it and cover the corners so you cannot see the staples.

The best part about these pavers is that they are easy to move if you change your mind on their location or want to enlarge a garden bed!

I love the extra character these plastic garden stones give my yard. We get a lot of rain in the winter so they also keep my garden paths from being mud pits.

Also, they have been able to stand up to my two large pit bull mixes running them on a daily basis. After all the abuse, they still look as amazing as the first day I installed them.

RENOVATE YOUR FAITH: God’s Provision for Worriers

Every morning, I walk into my rose garden and am pleasantly surprised at what new blooms await me.  No matter what I think Iโ€™ll see, there is always a surprise.  Never are the same flowers blooming in combination, and even their blooms vary in color and shading.

What I didnโ€™t realize was how much this concept of being graced with the surprise of new blooms has helped me in the area of worryโ€ฆ

Final Thoughts on Plastic Garden Stepping Stones

I always try out products before I recommend them, and I’m happy to say that I love these plastic stepping stones. Although I was very hesitant to buy them, they have proved to be very durable and flexible, so they don’t crack like concrete stepping stones. Also, I love that they haven’t faded in the hot Texas sun, and they still look like the real thing after a coupl ofe years. To get the best results, use the installation method above instead of the directions that come with the stepping stones.

Even after enlarging my rose beds three times, these light plastic pavers made the transition simple and easy! Now I have another excuse to buy more plants!
