Have your couch cushions officially given up on life? Before you haul it to the curb, I’ll show you how to fix a sagging couch cushion so it looks like new!

Your couch is not only a focal point of your living room, but it’s also the most important seat in your home. Not only should it look great, but you need it to be a comfy and supportive place to relax after a long day of adulting.

Unfortunately, even if you have a new couch, those cushions can start to sag into a depressed and deflated state. What was once your favorite seat in the house now feels like you’re being swallowed by a furniture black hole.

You can try beating them into fluffy compliance or even covering them with throw pillows, but before you know it, those couch cushions are back to being “sag-sacks” of disappointment. Not to mention that your once-pristine sofa now looks like it’s ready to be set out on the curb.

The good news? You don’t need to drop thousands on a new couch or resign to sitting in discomfort for another year. Most saggy couch situations are surprisingly fixable with a few pro tips.

Whether the back cushions look collapsed or the bottom cushions feel flat, this article will show you easy, cost-effective tips to refresh your couch cushions so they look as good as new.

Are your bottom cushions feeling flat? You can easily buy new, more supportive cushions that will last you the life of your couch. SUPPLY LIST: How to Fix Sagging Sofa Cushions

What is the best filler for sofa cushions?

Any kind of polyester fiber fill is great for top sofa cushions. You can also find cut-up pieces of memory foam that make good filler, however, fiber fill is usually cheaper.

How to Fill Top Couch Cushions with Extra Filler

STEP 1: Remove the Cover from The Couch Cushion

Find the zipper along the bottom of your top couch cushions. Unzip the cover and remove the insert that might look something like this:

IMPORTANT TIP: While you are taking off the couch cushion covers, this is the perfect time to wash them in the washer. Yes, most couch cushions can be washed in the washer safely without shrinking. Click here to find out how: Easy Guide to Washing Couch Cushion Covers In the Washer

STEP 2: Open The Couch Cushion Insert And Add More Filler

Hopefully, the insert that holds all the stuffing has a zipper. But if yours doesn’t like mine, you are still in luck!

Take a sharp pair of scissors and cut a 4-inch opening in the corner of the insert so you can add more filler.

Take a handful of filler and push it into the hole you just cut.

Continue adding more and more Fiber Fill into the couch cushion insert until it’s as supportive as you want it. Don’t be afraid to fill it as much as you can.

Use a glue gun to add a bead of glue on one side of the opening. This doesn’t have to be pretty, we just need an easy way to seal up the insert again.

After the glue has cooled, your sofa cushion insert might look a little lopsided. Take a few minutes to push the stuffing so it’s more evenly distributed.

Put your cushions back on and now your couch cushion looks better than new!

How to Go About Repairing a Sagging Couch With Non-Removable Cushions

If your couch had top cushions that were permanently attached to the couch itself, I would cut a one-inch hole on the UNDERSIDE of my couch cushion.

As I type this I can hear my mother’s voice telling me to NEVER cut a hole in a perfectly good couch. But remember, we are cutting a small hole in the bottom corner closest to the back of the couch. NO one can see it!

Then, fill the couch cushion with added fiber fill a little at a time until you get the desired support. Follow the same instructions as above.

When you are done filling the couch cushion, add a small bead of hot glue to seal the hole. I promise that NO ONE will be able to tell what you did and your couch will look SO much better for it. Not to mention you saved a ton of money by not having to buy a new couch!

How to Fix Sagging Couch Seat Cushions

If your bottom cushion needs some support, I have found that the best option is to buy replacement cushions.

I have done this 3 times to 3 different couches and each time the replacement cushions were much higher quality and more comfortable than the original cushions.

Go to a site like Foam Order where they walk you through the process step-by-step of measuring and ordering custom couch cuchions. If your couch is from Ashley, IKEA or Pottery Barn, they have many of those custom sizes on hand. I’ve only ever bought the custom cut cushions and have excellent results each time.

Each cushion was about $40.00. It was $120.00 well spent since we got so much more life and comfort out of a sofa we would have otherwise gotten rid of.

RENOVATE YOUR FAITH: How God Really Sees You

Just as an actor plays his or her role in a movie, we each have our individual part to play in Godโ€™s plan.  But God is the director, producer and editor of our stories. He perfectly orchestrates our role and can see the ending even when we donโ€™t.

As actors in Godโ€™s plans, our role is to play our part He gives us but also to have faith to know that God will do the heavy lifting. Heโ€™s the one who has full control, and we can rest in knowing that we can trust Him with our lives.

Sometimes I try to play the director in my own life and thatโ€™s where I struggle because thatโ€™s not my job.  Only God can fulfill that role.  READ THE REST HERE
